The big news this week is that Mikey got a job! Now if you know Michael very well, then you know that this is really BIG news! In keeping with family tradition, he has joined the Cafe' Rio team. YEAH!!!
You could say that finding a job was kind of a tuffy for him. For the past 10 months or so he's been "sort of " looking for a job. I suggested the grocery store. He said "nope", I suggested Stadium Eight. He said "nope". How about the SnoShack? He said "nope". I continued to nag. . oops I mean suggest. . . . .
One day at the mall he noticed some cute girls working at GAP so he filled out an application. . . . . . "A" for effort, but no job. There was also a more mature "cutie" at the furniture store, so he filled out an ap there, but no job. (To his credit, he did help out last Christmas at Tai Pan selling Christmas trees for them, but unfortunately, it was just seasonal.)
Michael even applied at the bank (you have to be 18). He told me it would be a great place to work. "All they do is sit on stools and count money." ;- 0 Duhhhhhhhh! Why didn't I think of that?
Of course I wanted him to go to Cafe' not just because his sisters all worked there, but because I was pretty confident they would hire him. But, he swore he would NOT do food. (Teens can be so cocky.)
In the mean time Mikey got his driver's license! Yikes!!! Actually, he's a pretty good driver - serious! Could that be because I trained him? . . . probably.
Of course he's now become the social guru for all of his buddies, and it requires a lot of driving!
That was when the ATM (aka my wallet) ran outta cash! Desperate times call for desperate measures! So Cafe' Rio it is!
He reported to work on Monday! Yeahhhhh!!!
I'm a happy momma! His sisters are cheering too.
I don't know if they are cheering for me - him or themselves!
They claim he's been spoiled. (that is possible, he is cute. . . . and he is my ONLY son.) They said that I "made" them get jobs much sooner (14 years) . . . . . .not true. I never made any of them get jobs. The ATM just ran dry! That's what happens when wants become needs. Besides girls are typically ahead of boys by 2 years right??????
At any rate, it's a day of celebration! YEAHHHH!
