Home from Minsk

I picked up Robin at the Vegas airport last night after he spent a very long day flying home. . . about 12ish hours in the air.    He brought home a handful of picts.   This first one is their first air-stop to refuel in Goosebay - in Newfoundland Canada. . . . looks mighty cold!

This is a picture of Greenland.  Robin also took picts of the ocean with iceburgs floating in the blue. . . . great incentive not to put down a plane in those frigid waters!!!

Here Robin is with one of the other pilots,
 Gary Overbaugh.
Their amazement was thinking about how they both grew up in the era of the cold war. . . and here these guys from the USA, flew into Russian airspace and didn't get shot down.   Truly an amazing miracle today in their eyes.

The 3 of them- Gary, Robin and Kelly in front of some Russian Architecture.

They stopped in Frankfurt Germany for an overnighter before heading home.   Rob said that he has no desire to go back.  "Russians don't know how to smile and be friendly . . .and they all smoke".   He said that in Russia there is no such thing as "No smoking" anywhere. . .  He said that he would smile and acknowledge someone and they would just look at him strange.   Even the waitresses in the restaurants were onery.   However. . He said that he and the guys still enjoyed themselves and had a memorable time!
